In the latest episode of the Town of Avon podcast, MarComm Specialist Angel Gino-Gino and Town Manager Ryan Cannon provide a concise overview of the Town Council meeting held on February 22nd, 2024. The meeting, described as brief by Cannon, covered several key points: 

  1. Approval of the Consent Agenda: The Council approved the check register for vendor payments and meeting minutes. Additionally, a bond release was approved for Fairwood sections 2 and 3, transitioning from a performance bond to a maintenance bond.
  2. Comprehensive Plan Update: A significant agenda item was the approval of a contract with HWC to update the town's comprehensive plan, a document that outlines Avon's vision for the future. The update process, expected to take 12 months, will include robust public involvement to gather community input on Avon's development.
  3. Traffic Signal Evaluation Contract: The Council approved a contract for evaluating and adjusting the traffic signal at the intersection of Lowe's Road and Dan Jones Road, in anticipation of the widening of Dan Jones Bridge. The adjustments aim to improve traffic flow and efficiency.
  4. Make My Move Initiative: This new economic development initiative aims to attract remote workers to Avon by offering incentives. The goal is to bring in 10 jobs over the next 12 months, in partnership with the Indiana Economic Development Commission.
  5. Park Fees Ordinance: An ordinance was approved to officially establish various park fees in the town's ordinance, ensuring transparency and clarity for residents.

The episode also highlighted community announcements, including registration for the new community garden and the availability of vendor applications for the Avon Farmers Market. Looking ahead, Cannon expressed his enthusiasm for playing tennis with his daughters in the warmer months, while Gino-Gino looks forward to enjoying the warm weather and possibly visiting the beach.
